Ansar Women’ s College enthusiastically implements i ts activities through ASHWAS club. The Club has been created to cater to the interests of the students to hone their l i fe skills. Exhibitions and Food fests are organized to raise funds which are distributed to the inmates of orphanages, old age homes and to the widows and destitute. Food, clothes, and blankets are distributed to the poor. The

institution waives fee and allows payment of fee in instalments to the    needy    students.    Students’ force i s used to help the society in natural calamities. Conducted workshops, awareness sessions, blood donation camps. etc. All students, move out of the campus and serve the society during the period of study.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CONTEXT

Education is not just acquiring knowledge and obtaining degrees and recognition but using the knowledge gained for the benefit of the society at large. Social responsibility and inclusiveness form an integral part of the graduation process. Instilling social responsibility in students help them to realize their potential and turn it to their own benefit and for the benefit of the society. Cancer and other Non-Communicable Dis ases have emerged as major public health  problem  in our society. When chronic or life-threatening illnesses strike, it is a crippling blow for the victims and their families. Therefore, a crucial need for a system of care at home that can best be built by a community-based palliative care movement. It is in this context Pain and Palliative Care Unit and Student Relief Wing (ASHWAS) was established. ASHWAS is always in the forefront of inculcating social values among students by the organizing various activities that benefit the neighbouring community and society at large.

 

OBJECTIVES PRINCIPLES

 

 

 

To gain skills in mobilizing community participation with leadership qualities and democratic attitude.

 

 

 

 

To fulfil the Vision and Mission of the institution

 

 

 

 

To make the students aware of the community in which they work and their relation to the community.

 

 

 

To make the students aware of their obligation to the society, especially the weaker section.

 

 

 

To enable the students to identify the needs and problems of the community and involve in problem solving process.

 

 

 

To create a sense of social and civic responsibility in students.

ASHWAS

2019-20

INAUGURATION

The ASHWAS Club was inaugurated on 15th January 2020 by Mr. K M Noordeen(Chairman of Alpha Charitable Trust).The program was followed by a session on “Role of Students in Palliative Care”. The guest of honour distributed the fund collected from the students.Shereena (staff, AWC) and Nabeesa (former mess staff, AES) received Rs.10,000 each.

As part of ASHWAS inauguration, the volunteers of ASHWAS had collected an amount and donated it to deserving candidates selected by the club coordinators.

 

 

 

 

INSTITUTIONAL VISIT

The Ashwas Club members visited Insight Blind Institution, Guruvayur on 31st July 2019. The visit was effective for the students in realizing the life of the blind. Sweets were distributed to the residents and quality time was spent with them.

 

TRAUMA CARE WORKSHOP

On 29th January 2020, the Ashwas Club and PTA committee organized a Trauma Care Training. The guest of honour, Mr. Shameer Pattambi, (District Controller, Trauma Care, Palakkad), conducted an interactive session. He also hosted a workshop on ‘first aid technique’.

 

SPARSHAM 2K19

 

The members of Ashwas Club attended “Sparsham 2k19”, literary and cultural programme, organized by Oasis Pain and Palliative Care, on 25th October 2019 at Government College of Engineering, Thrissur.The winners received prizes for the same and others received certificates of participation.The team felt honored to be part of the event.

ALUMNI MEET

 

On Alumni meet, the club arranged a juice corner for the purpose of raising fund for the activities of ASHWAS wing and collected an amount of Rs.1050/- as profit.

 
 
 
 

 

 

KIT DISTRIBUTION

 

The ASHWAS Club Distributed 75 kitchen kits on 29th august 2019 to the people who were affected by the floods in Niambur. The kits were distributed by MR. P.M.A Gafoor, Writer, and Motivational Speaker.

The volunteers of ASHWAS collected some amount from the students of the College and donated it to purchase a Household Necessity kit to two students of the College.

 

EXTENDING A HEPING HAND

An amount of Rs. 5000/- was collected by the students and donated to a kidney patient having financial difficulty for medical treatment. The Collected amount was handed over to Mr kamarudheen(secretory, santhwanam palliative care)

 

“PALLIATIVE KUDUMBANGALKKU

VIDDHYARTHIKALUDE KYTHANGU”

The programme was an initiative by the students and the volunteers of the ASHWAS club, the students organized a fund raiser to support the economically backward families in the “Kadavallur panchayath” as a result they were able to collect an amount of Rs. 5000 and donated it to the Palliative Care Unit.

 
 

 

 

ASHWAS

2018-19

ASHWAS 2018-19 began its activities on 25th october 2018, saturday, the student volunteers participated in sparsham 2k18'- a literary and cultural fest organized by the 'oasis pain and palliative care unit of government engineering college Thrissur. The students bagged various prizes and took part in seminars and interactive sessions thereafter. A cancer awareness class was given by dr. Gangadharan.

 

 

BRIEFING

 

 

On 9th November 2018, Friday, the members of ASHWAS conducted a ceremony in which a helping hand was lend to Ms. Shobana. Shobana is a staff of the Ansari Charitable Trust. We were able to raise an amount of ₹10,000 which helped in her daughter’s marriage. She struggled as herself being a widow.

FINANCIAL SUPORT AND ASSISTANCE

On 10th December, 2018, Friday, the members were able to help Mr. Ansar and family as they struggled to build a home for them. The team was able to raise an amount of ₹30,000. It was the work of volunteers and teachers together that brought this great success. The amount was handed over by Fasna Miyan (State secretary,GIO)

 

 

 

On       10th december,2018, Tuesday, the team handed over

₹25,000 to Mrs. Shyla. She is a staff of our institution. For long she had struggled to built a home for her family. Ours was a little help that we could present

to her. The amount was handed over by Mr.E A Kunjahammad (secretary, Ansari Charitable Trust).

 

 

 

On 10th December, 2018, Monday, the team was able to help Ms. Bency, who needed financial support for her treatment. The team raised an amount of ₹20,000 as it would contribute to it. The cash was handed over by Mr. K V Muhammad (Vice chairman) to Mr. Kunji Bappu (trust member) who represented the former.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 

 

 

The team raised an amount of Rs 20,000 for Ms. Benzy who needed financial support for her medical treatment.

 

 

 

On 27th December 2018, Thursday, the team lent a helping hand to one of their friends, Ms. Jincy Mol, a student of commerce department of AWC by providing a ration kit of ₹3500 which was a great source of comfort for her and family. They were having a tough time dealing with the daily expenses.

 

On 25th October 2018, the volunteers of Ashwas 2018-19 participated in ‘Sparsham 2k18- a literary and cultural fest’ conducted by the Government Engineering College, Thrissur. It was organized by the “Oasis Pain & Palliative care” unit of the college.

The students also participated in various activities held at venues like that of the interactive session and seminars. The programme give the students a new experience and many opportunities to interact with the resource persons and other teachers.

 
 

 

 

 

LENDING A HELPING HAND

ASHWAS

2017-18

An amount of Rs.50000/- was collected and handed over to Ms. Subaida, the staff of AWC on 11th August 2017 during the Union inauguration by the honorable Local Self-Government Minister Mr. K.T Jaleel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CALSS

On 15th June 2018 ,the members led a helping hand to Ms. Sajna. She suffered from brain tumor and due to the same she was beginning to lose her vision. Our team was able to raise Rs.1.4 lakhs for her treatment. The cash was handed over by Mr.Kunju Bappu,Trust member.

 

An awareness class on breast cancer was conducted in college auditorium on 17th July 2017. The awareness class helped the students to understand the cause and effect of breast cancer. The resource person also did an interactive session with the students.

 

Several Departments of the campus conducted fresher’s day for the first-year students, the senior students collected money from themselves to organize the event for the freshers. The balance amount from the event was given to the ASGWAS Club and an amount of Rs.545 was donated by the departments by selling snacks on Freshers’ Day.

 

The students took initiative to collect some money for charity and for this, they placed 7 collection boxes on each floor of the institution and places like canteen, school office, college office, library, and several other placed where students and faculty members gathered.

DONATION

 

 

During the year the ASHWAS Club Donated Glucometer with strip to the NSS unit of Ansar Women’s College which was handed over to Santhwanam Pain & Palliative clinic, Akkikavu. The donated Glucometer helped the

Palliative Clinic to treat their patients with more efficiency. The inititive of the students was appreciated by the care taker of the “Santhwanam Pain & Palliative clinic”.

 

  CHANGATHIKORU

 

KYTHANGU

The ASHWAS and Ansar Women’s College together inaugurated a new scheme named “Changathikoru kythangu” to help the students who are facing financial issues, and as a part of this, the ASHWAS Club paid the semester fee of Rs.12800/- for one of our beloved student, Ms.Sumayya C.V.

 

 

 

 

ORPHANAGE VISIT

Visited an orphanage named “Nirmala Sadan” on 16th November, the students distributed groceries and donated clothes for them. The visit helped the students to understand the value of life and the importance of having

someone looks after you. The students spend some time with the kids and interacted with them giving them hope and sending smiles and joy in to their life.

 

The students Visited the Boys’ cottage, an orphanage for boys and kids, students were able to spent quality time with them and they all played games and did many activities together. The visit motivated the students to have empathy and kindness towards others.

  Ramadan Kit

Distribution

The ASHWAS relief wing of Ansar Women's College visited kottol Nayadi colony as a part of Ramadan and distributed groceries to 27 families of the colony. The programme was inaugurated by Kadavallur Panchayath member Mr. Jamal kottol. During the programme the students were able to understand the value and benefit charity

 

  HOMES FOR

NEEDY

Homes are a necessity for everyone, being able to live under a roof is everyone’s dream. The club donated Rs.50000/- for the house construction of Mr. Manikandan, mess worker, Ansar English School.

The club also donated Rs.50000/- for the house construction of a poor family. The amount was received by Nadeera .M, a member of the family.

 

 

Visited a nearby colony and helped them to improve their living standards. For this purpose, the fund was collected by the college union through a food fest. The food fest conducted by the college union was a huge success, many students took part in cooking and making unique food that helped them rise enough money to help the economically backward families living in the nearby colony.

VISIT OF  LOVE

 

ASHWAS

2015-16

As a part of Vision-2016-project, ANSAR WOMEN’S COLLEE and ASHWAS an amount of Rs.33340 was contributed to Human Welfare Foundation. The contributed money was collected from the students as well as the faculty member of the campus.

 

 

 

Formal inauguration of ASHWAS CLUB by handing over the materials collected by the students to the Goodwill store of Alpha Palliative Care Unit, Thrissur. The programme was named ‘One man’s Trash, Other’s Treasure’ and the collected fund was handed over to a needy one.

 

 

On Hiroshima day, the club arranged a food corner for the purpose of raising fund for the activities of ASHWAS wing and collected an amount of Rs.4694/- as profit.

FUND RAISER

 

 

3Conducted a food fest

The club organized an organic vegetable stall and a corner of salted items and received a profit of Rs.1950.

association with College Union for the purpose of charity works and got a profit of Rs.31110/-

Collected an amount of Rs.6500/-for

buying 1300 flags distributed by IAB- Indian Association for the Blind.This is a voluntary donation aimed at supporting the education and rehabilitation of visually challenged people.

 

` Outreach program was held on 7th 2016 at Nirmala Sadhan, Kecheri- a caring unit of abandoned children. The club distributed fruits and diapers as per their request. The club members was able to spent some quality time with the children in the caring unit.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

 

An amount of Rs.10000/- was collected and

distributed as a part of The Chennai flood relief. The amount was collected by the students from their homes and from their own pocket money, the fund raised was helpful for the state of Chennai to help them cope with the flood.

 

A visit was arranged to VMV Orphanage for charity works and an amount of Rs 6500/- was donated. The visit was able to put a smile in the faces of the children and the elderly persons. The club members also played and did many activities together.

 

A function was arranged to hand over the collected amount of charity to a needy person. The programme was held in the college auditorium, the principal Dr. P.K Yaqoob inaugurated the programme.

AWARENESS CLASS

Chief guest: Prof.Tobio (HSST, Govt Higher Secondary School, Marathancode) Tobio, who was himself blind, had developed methods to promote the education of visually challenged students. Some of his works include:

• Audio streaming platform for the blind and visually impaired
