"VIMUKTHI" - ANTI-NARCOTICS CELL

     The Anti Narcotics cell of Ansar Women’s College has been constituted to ensure a drug- free campus by imposing a total ban on the possession or use of drugs and alcohol by students of the college, within or outside the campus/hostel.

     The duties of the Anti Narcotics cell include organizing awareness programmes in the college and hostels with the help of government authorized agencies/ organizations. Educating the students about the ill-effects of drugs and alcohol, encouraging peer policing among students against the use of drugs and reporting of any noticed use of drugs by the students to the students affairs committee are also the duties of the anti-drugs cell.

      The extensive use of narcotics within and outside educational institutions has become a serious concern nowadays. Drug dealers target students both as carriers as well as clients. It’s high time for teachers and parents to work against and eradicate this evil force. The highly energetic youth can be guided by educating and at the same time by warning against the adverse effect of narcotics. With this noble intention, we formed anti-narcotics cell in our college. We keep close contact with the excise and police departments and arrange programs to make the students aware of the strong legal force working against narcotics and inculcate respect towards parents, teachers and the Indian judiciary. We also work outside the campus. Regular visit in nearby localities and interaction sessions conduct with the outsiders in order to eradicate substantial abuse.

Objectives of the Cell:

• To ensure a drug free campus.

• To engage the students in anti- narcotic campaigns.

• Motivate students to become volunteers of anti-narcotic activities in their life.

• To eradicate substantial abuse in the society.

ACTIVITIES OF  CURRENT YEAR

ANTI-NARCOTICS DAY OBSERVATION

    The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Ansar Women’s College, VIMUKTHI observed “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” on 26^th June 2021 to raise awareness about drug abuse among students and to highlight the threat that drugs pose to our society. VIMUKTHI released a video on YouTube to spread the message of International Anti-Narcotics Day on the day at 9.30 AM. It was an animation visual treat that was encompassed with some facts and figures about drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

     On 28^th June, Monday PG Department of Computer Science in association with VIMUKTHI and SOS Children Village conducted an awareness class on the topic “Be Smart, Don’t Start! Choose to Refuse” through the online platform ZOOM. The programme was mainly conducted for the children in SOS Children Village and students from the PG Department of Computer Science, members of Anti- Narcotics Cell were the participants from the college.
