Mind Matters: Dialogues on Psychological Disorders

The PG Department of Psychology at Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu, organized its Association Inauguration with the theme “Mind Matters: Dialogues on Psychological Disorders.” The session aimed to create awareness and encourage open discussions about mental health and psychological well-being. The program featured Qudhrath, a writer and storyteller, as the guest speaker, who engaged the audience with insightful thoughts and real-life perspectives on psychological issues. The interactive session provided students with a deeper understanding of mental health, making the event both informative and inspiring.

 

Projective Techniques of Personality

The Department of Psychology at Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu, in association with the Mental Health Club, organized a workshop on “Projective Techniques of Personality.” The session was led by Prof. Eledath Mohamed, a distinguished clinical psychologist, who shared his expertise on various projective methods used in understanding personality. The workshop provided students with valuable insights into psychological assessment techniques and practical applications, making it an informative and enriching learning experience.

 

 

Applied Physiology Session

Applied Physiology Session organized by the PG Department of Psychology at Ansar Women’s College is an academic program aimed at helping students understand the connection between physiological processes and psychological functioning. Conducted by Dr. Praveen K P, the session focuses on the biological basis of behavior, emotions, and mental health, providing practical insights that are valuable for psychology students. Scheduled on 23rd January 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the conference hall, the program serves as a knowledge-enhancing and career-oriented initiative.

 

The Legal Side of POCSO and Cyber Sexual Harassment

The Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell of Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu, in collaboration with the PG Department of Psychology, organized a community extension activity on “The Legal Side of POCSO and Cyber Sexual Harassment.” The program aimed to create awareness about legal provisions, rights, and preventive measures related to child protection and online safety. The session was led by Faritha J (Principal) along with resource persons Nusaiba Nadhran O N and Murshitha P M, who shared valuable insights on legal frameworks, real-life cases, and the importance of reporting and safeguarding against cyber threats. Conducted at Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayankulam, the program was informative and impactful, helping participants gain a better understanding of legal awareness and personal safety.

 

 

Entrepreneurship in Mental Health: A Career Guidance Session

The Entrepreneurship in Mental Health: A Career Guidance Session was organized by the PG Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Mental Health Club at Ansar Women’s College. The session was led by Vyshnav PG, Founder and CEO of Psycholab, who shared insights on career opportunities in mental health entrepreneurship. The program highlighted innovative career paths, essential skills, and practical aspects of starting ventures in the mental health field, inspiring students to explore diverse professional possibilities.

 

 

Art of Learning” Teacher Training Workshop

The “Art of Learning” Teacher Training Workshop is organized by the PG Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Extension Cell at Ansar Women’s College. The program features sessions led by Rysfana Rahman, Assistant Professor, and Najma KC, Head of the Department of Psychology. It is scheduled to be held on November 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Room No. 21 (Admin Block).

 

 

Moments for Refresh

The PG Department of Psychology at Ansar Women’s College successfully conducted the workshop “Moments for Refresh” for non-teaching staff on 14th October 2025, in connection with World Mental Health Day. Led by Vinitha E V, Consultant Psychologist and Hypnotherapist, the session focused on stress management, emotional well-being, and self-care. The workshop was interactive and refreshing, helping participants relax, gain practical coping strategies, and feel motivated in their daily work.

 

 

 Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies”

The PG Department of Psychology at Ansar Women’s College conducted a seminar on “Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies” on 13th October 2025 as part of World Mental Health Day celebrations. The session, led by Sonu S Dev, Clinical Psychologist, highlighted the psychological impact of disasters and effective coping and intervention strategies. It was an informative and engaging session that enhanced students’ understanding of mental health care in crisis situations.

 

 

Observance of World Mental Health Day 

The PG Department of Psychology at Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu, successfully organized a vibrant program in observance of World Mental Health Day on October 10th, 2025. The event featured engaging and therapeutic activities such as Smile Station, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Nature Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy, aimed at promoting emotional well-being and self-expression. The program created a positive and interactive space for students to relax, explore their feelings, and understand the importance of mental health, making it a meaningful and enriching experience for all participants.

 

 

Research Writing Workshop

As part of the academic enrichment initiatives, the PG Department of Psychology, Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu, organized a Research Writing Workshop on 26 September 2025 at the College Auditorium for final-year UG and PG students. The workshop was led by Mr. Shimil P. V., Head of the Department, Assabah Arts and Science College, Valayamkulam, and Research Scholar at Christ University, who served as the Resource Person. The session focused on enhancing students’ understanding of research writing, including topic selection, structuring research papers, academic writing standards, and ethical considerations in research. The workshop provided practical insights and clarity, equipping students with essential skills for academic research and higher studies, while fostering confidence in scholarly writing.

 

 

Add-on Course Orientation

As part of the academic enrichment and skill development initiatives, the PG Department of Psychology, Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu, organized an Add-on Course Orientation Programme on 13 August 2025 at the Conference Hall. The session aimed to familiarize students with the scope, structure, and career relevance of the add-on courses offered by the department. Dr. Siraj P. Hussain, Chairman, GADE Kerala, served as the Resource Person and provided insightful guidance on the importance of specialized training in the fields of learning disabilities and counselling practice. The orientation highlighted the courses Diploma in Management of Learning Disabilities and Counselling Practitioner Course (Beginner to Advanced), emphasizing their practical applications and professional opportunities. The programme effectively motivated students to enhance their competencies, bridge academic learning with professional skills, and make informed career choices. 

 

Pause & Refresh

The PG Department of Psychology, Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu organized a session titled “Pause & Refresh” for final year PG Psychology students on 25th August 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Conference Hall. The session was led by Ms. Sahla PS, Counselor and Assistant Professor. The programme aimed to help students relax, manage stress, and rejuvenate themselves during their academic journey. Through engaging activities and meaningful interactions, the session provided a refreshing break and promoted mental well-being among the students.


 

 

The Mind Odyssey

The PG Department of Psychology, Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu conducted a Bridge Course titled “The Mind Odyssey” on 23rd July 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in Room No. 24. The session was handled by Ms. Rysfana Rahiman, Assistant Professor of Psychology. The programme aimed to introduce students to fundamental psychological concepts and help them smoothly transition into their academic journey. The session was engaging and informative, providing students with a strong foundation and enhancing their interest in the subject.

 

 

 “Bridging Mind and Body”

The PG Department of Psychology is organizing a Bridge Course titled “Bridging Mind and Body”, aimed at helping students understand the vital connection between psychological processes and physical well-being. The session will be led by Athira P, Assistant Professor of Physiology, who will guide participants in exploring how mental health and bodily functions influence each other. This program is designed to build foundational knowledge, enhance interdisciplinary understanding, and support students in their academic and personal growth.

 

 

From Campus to Career: My Journey Begins

The PG Department of Psychology, Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu organized an Alumni Talk titled “From Campus to Career: My Journey Begins” on 16th July 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Conference Hall. The session aimed to provide students with insights into career development and the transition from academic life to professional practice. The programme featured Ms. Shereena N M, School Counselor at Ansar English School, as the Chief Guest. She shared her personal journey, highlighting the challenges and opportunities she encountered while building her career in the field of psychology. Her talk emphasized the importance of skill development, practical exposure, and perseverance in achieving professional success. The session was highly interactive and inspiring, offering students a realistic perspective on career pathways in psychology. It served as a valuable platform for students to gain motivation and guidance for their future endeavors.


 

 
 

Design Your Future

The PG Department of Psychology, Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu organized a UG First Year Induction Programme titled “Design Your Future” on 11th July 2025 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The programme was conducted for first-year students of Commerce, Arts, and Science streams in separate venues. The sessions were handled by faculty members Ms. Sahla PS, Ms. Jiji BJ, Ms. Rysfana Rahiman, and Ms. Noora Hanan.
