SC/ST CELL

                      The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given priority to the downtrodden students and staff members during IX plan period and given direction to all the Universities to establish a SC/ST Cell in each College. The SC/ST cell of Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu was constituted in the year 2015 with a purpose to empower the SC/ST students in the college.

AIM:

The main aim of the cell is to monitor the guidelines issued by the MHRD, the University Grants Commission and by the Government of Kerala from time to time. The cell promotes the special interests of students in the reserved category and to provide special inputs in areas where the students experience difficulty. The cell has the responsibilities of receiving, scrutinizing and processing applications from SC/ST students pursing their course of study.

The cell regularly organizes interactive sessions and informal meetings with students to attend to their personal, social and academic problems. The SC/ST students can approach the Section Officer/ Liaison Officer of the Cell for redressal of any grievance(s) regarding academic, administrative or social problems. The Section Officer/ Liaison Officer meets the concerned students, understands their problems and takes the necessary actions and/or gives them the necessary advice/help to resolve the matter.

UGC GUIDELINES FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SC/ST CELL

According to the 1998 UGC Guidelines for the establishment of Special Cell for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, for the Universities and deemed Universities, the purpose of these cells is to monitor the admission of students and the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staffs at various levels. Its function is also to help the SC/ST categories to integrate with the mainstream of the University community and to remove difficulties, which they may be experiencing.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • To create awareness among the SC/ST students regarding the various scholarships programs of State Govt. and UGC.

  • To arrange for special opportunities to enhance the development of their careers.

  • To ensure protection and reservation as provided in the Constitution of India.

  • To provide the mechanism to redress the grievance of SC/ST students, if any

  • Registering the complaints in writing from SC/ST teachers, officers, employees and students and address it to concerned department, person or section for its peaceful resolution.

  • To take follow up measures to achieve the objectives and targets laid down by the Govt. of India and UGC.

ACTIVITIES

  • To collect reports and information regarding the Government of India orders on the various aspects of education, employment of SC/ST candidates.

  • To circulate State Govt. and UGC’s decisions about different scholarship programs.

  • To communicate with the students and motivate them for better future planning.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL

The SC/ST students and employees can approach the Coordinator of the Cell for redressal of any of their grievance(s) regarding academic, administrative or social problems. The Coordinator often meets the concerned students and staff, to understand their problem and takes necessary action and/or renders them necessary advice/help to resolve the matter.

PROCEDURE TO FILE A COMPLAINT

A written complaint may be submitted to the Coordinator, SC/ST Cell. Any student and employee of Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu can approach the Cell.
