This day was chosen to celebrate as children’s day after the death of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, adorably referred to as Chacha Nehru. He was very fond of children and they showered him with love as well. Children are the foundation of a better tomorrow. Nehru was a great advocate for children’s right and for an all-inclusive education system where knowledge is accessible to all. He believed that children are the future of the country and the foundation of a society, and hence, everyone’s well-being should be taken care of. Jawaharlal Nehru had once said that children of today will make the India of tomorrow. Children’s day is celebrated in an adorable fashion, all over the country. This is the day when children are showered with a lot of love, gifts and pampering. Children’s day is observed in schools, where the teachers put on programmes and entertaining performances for the children. They are also showered with gifts consisting of eatables, books and cards. The theme for the pencil drawing competition was to draw the superhero of childhood dreams. Donning a superhero identity can help children to develop moral values. Superhero play allows them to explore abstract ideas of good and bad, death and pain, and all in a safe environment. And most importantly, pretending to be super gives children a sense of control over the world that can seem big and scary. Superheroes are meant to inspire. They represent someone that we are not, or someone that can do things that we can’t. They provide an escape into a world where someone is there for us even when our protectors have let us down. The response from the students was satisfactory. Many students had responded with the drawings of their childhood superhero. Each end race of the competition was of maximum quality and appreciable.
